Petition Against Development of Ashgate Road Car Park
We the undersigned petition the Chesterfield Borough Council to retain and improve Ashgate Road Car Park.
We have been informed of the Council’s intention to sell Goldwell Hill Car Park and associated buildings. We understand the need to maximise the income from Borough assets so that services can be maintained despite continuing cuts in government grants. We are also aware of the need to provide an on-going supply of new housing.
However, indiscriminate car parking in the area surrounding this car park has been causing problems for residents for some time and the removal of the facility to accommodate up to 145 cars will only make this situation worse. We also think that if the Council’s efforts to attract more business continue to be successful, we will need to retain all our parking facilities.
