Meeting: 23/10/2019 - Taxi Consultative Committee (Item 13)

Minutes:

Inspector McInulty submitted the reported crime figures for the period 1 July to 30 September, 2019 for the Chesterfield and the Bolsover and North East Derbyshire Policing sections, totalling 28 reports, which included:

 

18 – making off without payment

 7 – damage to vehicle

 1 – alleged robbery

 1 – threat

 1 – racial abuse (verbal)

 

Inspector McInulty referred to recent difficulties caused by taxis picking up at the Stephenson Place / Holywell Street junction and stated the police would work with drivers and operators to encourage a practical and sensible approach.


Meeting: 24/10/2018 - Taxi Consultative Committee (Item 13)

Minutes:

Inspector Nicholls submitted the reported crime figures for the period 1 July to 30 September, 2018 for the Chesterfield and the Bolsover and North East Derbyshire Policing sections, totalling 21 reports, which included:

 

9 – making off without payment (7 unknown offenders; 2 known offenders with ongoing investigations)

4 – damage to vehicle (3 unknown offenders; 1 known offender)

3 – alleged theft by drivers (property left in taxis by customers not returned)

1 – theft from vehicle (window smashed)

1 – public order (abusive to driver – unknown offender)

1 – racial abuse (suspect identified and investigation ongoing)

1 – alleged sexual offence (case ongoing)

1 – threat made in taxi office (investigation ongoing)


Meeting: 18/10/2017 - Taxi Consultative Committee (Item 15)

Minutes:

Inspector Nicholls submitted the reported crime figures for the period 1 July to 1 October, 2017 for the Chesterfield and the Bolsover and North East Derbyshire Policing sections, totalling 23 reports, which included:

 

17 occasions where the driver was the victim

1 occasion where a member of the public was the victim

3 occasions where the driver was a suspect

2 occasions which were racially or religiously aggravated

1 occasion where  a taxi company was the victim

 

Timing – 10 crimes were between 0000 hours and 0600 hours.

 

Violence against drivers – 3 cases

 

The breakdown of crimes was:

 

13 – making off without payment

2 – damage to vehicle / taxi office

2 – assault on driver

2  theft

2 – public order

1 – threat to taxi driver

1 – assault by taxi driver

 

The outcomes from investigation of these reported crimes were:

 

2 – restorative justice

7  - suspect identified (3 arrested and charged, 2 no further action,  2 investigation ongoing)

14 – undetected.


Meeting: 25/01/2017 - Taxi Consultative Committee (Item 31)

Police Issues

Minutes:

Inspector Turner submitted the reported crime figures for the period 30 October to 31 December, 2016 for the Chesterfield and the Bolsover and North East Derbyshire Policing sections, totalling 28 reports. These included:

 

27 occasions where the driver was the victim

1 occasion where a member of the public was the victim

1 occasion where a taxi company was a victim

 

There had been no reports of the driver being the offender.

 

Timing – 18 crimes were between 0000 hours and 0600 hours.

 

Violence against drivers – 3 cases

 

The breakdown of crimes was:

 

19 – making off without payment

4 – damage to vehicle

3 – assault on a driver

1  – theft

1 – damage to taxi office

 

There had been no reports of sexual assault or of hate crime.

 

The outcomes from investigation of these reported crimes were:

 

10 – restorative justice

5  - suspect identified (2 charged, 1 considered with other offences, 1 investigations ongoing, 1 victim declined to prosecute)

2 – investigations ongoing

11 – undetected.

 

It was confirmed that cases of making off without payment were treated as crimes, with roughly half being resolved through restorative justice.
