That the Minutes of the meeting of the Appeals and Regulatory Committee held on 10 April, 2019 be approved as a correct record and signed by the Chair.

To move “That under Section 100(A)(4) of the Local Government Act 1972 the public be excluded from the meeting for the following items of business on the grounds that they involve the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act".

RESOLVED –

 

That under Section 100(A)(4) of the Local Government Act 1972 the public be excluded from the meeting for the following item of business on the grounds that it involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act.

Application for Private Hire Driver's Licence - Mohammed Ayaz Ibrar (A410)

Minutes:

The Licensing Officer submitted a report for Members to consider whether an application for a Private Hire Driver’s Licence by Mr Mohammed Ayaz Ibrar could proceed.

 

Mr Ibrar and attended the meeting.

 

* RESOLVED –

 

That Mr Ibrar’s application for a Private Hire Driver’s Licence be allowed to proceed, initially for a period of 12 months, with the awarding of eight penalty points (reducing to seven points after the first year and two points each year thereafter provided no further incidents occur) and subject to the completion of the application process.

Review of Decision to Terminate an Introductory Tenancy (2 - 19/20) (A090)

The Committee considered a request from a tenant for a review of the Council’s decision to terminate an introductory tenancy.

 

The appeal was heard in accordance with the Council’s Introductory Tenant’s Procedure. The tenant and his representative attended the meeting.

 

The committee was read a letter from the Council’s Housing Benefits Department confirming that the tenant’s housing benefit had been re-instated from December 2018.

 

The committee advised that the tenant and the neighbourhoods’ team continue to liaise with the Law Centre as a reasonable adjustment for the tenant’s support needs.

 

* RESOLVED –

 

That the officers’ decision to seek possession be upheld, but that the Council do not implement the decision to seek possession and begin possession proceedings provided the currently weekly rent is paid and the arrears consistently reduce or are cleared.
